I ordered a couple of LCDs from EIO. They were shipped on a timely basis and arrived safe and sound. If I have some time in the next few weeks, perhaps I will try to get them working.
The drawing for last month's VXA tape drive is over. I didn't win. However, five people did click the banner and sign up for it, which is awesome. Then again, there were 1432 people who visited the site last month.
With the new month comes the new sweepstakes, so perhaps more people will sign up? Perhaps the same people? Please?

I would like to thank Filip De Vos for taking the time to fill out the VXA sweepstakes entry form. I appreciate that.

Since the last update, there has been a drastic change in the project: It looks like I will be obtaining an Audi A4 1.8T Quattro in the spring. An awesome car, one which I will begin modifying the day I get it. This car also has a Bose system and a 6disc changer. What the car lacks is a place to put the LCD. In the Acura, the LCD would have gone where the ashtray was. Any A4 owners have thoughts on this one?
Speaking of LCDs, I'm starting to get sick of roasting them. Two down, three to go. I have two on order from EIO, and one more from AZ Displays. Sadly, the beautiful negative display I got from AZ is out of stock and won't be back in stock for quite a while. As soon as they are back, however, I will purchase one. If someone wanted to make me a working connector, I would pay good money for it (and I know thousands of other people would, too.)
I haven't actually worked on this project in a few months. Been busy and haven't had the time. Now that I'm at school, I'm also lacking the tools (I left my soldering iron at home). What I have done is put fans in the case (7 of them) and put in the power supply. I also sold the 10GB HD to a friend since 10GB just won't be enough. I think I'm going to buy a 20GB or 30GB drive, depending on how many CDs I buy in the next few weeks.
No more AllAdvantage ads on the site. I cancelled my account after they refused to pay the $150 they owed me. I highly recommend you don't use them. If they had a single tech support human, instead of just automated mailers, there would have been no problem.
The AA ads have been replaced with ads for an awesome tape drive I'd like to own. Unfortunatly, I can't afford one - hence the ads for winning one in a sweepstakes. All you need to do is enter the sweepstakes. Each time you enter, I get an entry, too. They send no spam and do not resell or give away your info. I really need some form of mass backup - CDR just doesn't cut it when you have 50GB to backup.

Got a new LCd from AZ Displays a few weeks ago, but haven't had time to do anything but solder the connection for it. I decided to format the hard drive and install Red Hat, only to decide yesterday to stick with DOS. I'm lazy and DOS is easy.
Other news? I finally updated the site. Added links and software pages.
Oh yeah, before I forget: I got an e-mail telling me where to get LCD connector kits. TOM BUNCH sent the e-mail. TOM BUNCH TOM BUNCH TOM BUNCH TOM BUNCH. Also, I wrote his name in my back yard with lyme. If anyone here is living in a satelite, you can see it from space.
Unfortunatly, the person TOM BUNCH sent me to no longer sells the connectors. Oh well. At least I know that the conenctor I made wasn't at fault, since it seems to work fine for my new display.

I've had the LCD few a couple weeks and only recently got around to soldering the connection for it. So far, no luck. I'll need to re-re-recheck it one more time before I give up. I have seen several wiring diagrams, and as far as I can tell, mine mirrors them perfectly. If anyone wanted to direct me to a place which sells a premade kit, I would honor them somehow. Name in lights or something :-)
I don't own a digital camera, so I haven't been able to take any pictures of the display yet. The pictures you see on this site are taken with the camera I borrowed from an English teacher. I do, however, have a scanner and I put the display on the scanner. It came out pretty well, but it is hard to tell just how large the display really is. It is HUGE.

I heard from WPI today. I got accepted and it looks like I'll be going there. They made a wise choice :)
Haven't worked on the MP3 player lately. Instead, I've been learning PHP and building a site with it. The site uses PHP and a MySQL database. Both of those rock.
